Quartet Representative Tony Blair and Senator Barack Obama met in London this morning for talks which principally focused on the Middle East peace process.

The two had a breakfast meeting at the Churchill Hotel and exchanged views on the situation in Israel and Palestine and its wider implications, in light of Senator Obama's visits this week and Mr Blair's continuing efforts to promote peace and prosperity.

Senator Obama's visit to London came at the end of a seven country tour which included stops in the Middle East where he met with both Israeli and Palestinian leaders.

Mr Blair's current role in the Middle East has him working for the USA, UN, Russia and EU as the Quartet Representative, helping the Palestinians to prepare for statehood as part of the international community's effort to secure peace.

They also discussed Tony Blair's work on climate change, and his recent 'Breaking the Climate Deadlock' report which has set out the framework for a new global deal for a low carbon future.

The report identifies the actions and questions that need to be resolved by political and business leaders over the next 18 months to achieve a successful outcome to the UN climate change negotiations in Copenhagen in December 2009.

Tony Blair has previously met with Senator Obama in both London and Washington, and also with Senator John McCain, most recently when the Republican candidate passed through London earlier this year.
